Harnessing the Power of Blogs for Your Business

Guess what other ‘power tool’ a wedding photographer should have aside from his camera bag? It’s none other than this thing on the web which has turned from a craze into a permanent fixture: blogs.

With a wedding photography blog, you will be able to keep track of what is happening with your past and prospective clients – and they can do the same with you. It’s a veritably free tool where you can showcase your best work and inform your clients of which wedding you will be covering next.
Some of my favorite wedding photography blogs include the ones maintained by WPJA-winner Craig Mitchelldyer. Karin Von Voigtlander is another wedding photography blogger whom I keep track of.

Basically, for those who are just starting out in the business, you can actually market your business for free by harnessing the power of blogs in increasing your clientele and reaching out to your core audience. Just take a look at the sites of the first two photographers that I mentioned, as well as the one maintained by Raymond Soemarsono.

What I have learned from these wedding photographers who maintain their own blog is that it’s not all fun and games. Although you can harness the power of blogs to benefit your business, you still need to do a bit of research into how you can personalize your blog. This way, the image that you want your business to project to your clients will come across.

One final note: make sure that if you are maintaining a blog for your wedding photography business, keep it updated and filled with excellent, high-quality content. This way, you can optimize your blogs in such a way that more and more online users will visit it on a daily basis – thereby increasing your chances of gaining new clients.
