What Indirect Marketing Techniques Should a Wedding Photographer Use?

Business cards, flyers, ads – these are the traditional marketing techniques used by wedding photographers in promoting their business. But as far as I'm concerned, one of the best indirect marketing tools is to actually reach out to your core audience with the help of visuals. For this, video marketing is the first thing that usually comes to mind.

Let's say that you decided to use video marketing in promoting your wedding photography business. A simple, straightforward video posted on YouTube, your social networking sites and blogs will go a long way towards promoting your business. You don't have to be a computer whiz to create one, just make sure that it is engaging.

Turn it into a series of videos

– the first one can explain your wedding photography business,
- the second video can showcase your portfolio,
- and the succeeding ones can offer new photographers tips about running the business and wedding photography in general.

There's this video of a wedding photographer which I saw online – and what he did was use his leather-bound portfolio in giving tips to other photographers on how they can create their own portfolio. At the bottom of the video is a link to his website, and the end credits showed his name and site – again.

I do think that straightforward videos like his are a great marketing tool, and I'm already creating similar ones to post on my website right now.
